This course will provide a comprehensive overview of the 12 core functions of an addiction counselor: Screening, Intake, Orientation, Assessment, Treatment Planning, Counseling, Case Management, Crisis Intervention, Client Education, Referral, Reports/Record Keeping and Consultation with Other Professionals in Regard to Client Treatment/Services.
Each area will be defined, reviewing criteria, purpose and implementation across various treatment settings. Students will engage in activities that will assist them in developing a comprehensive understanding of each function and how these functions are essential in providing substance abuse treatment. This course will meet requirements for individuals pursuing their CADAC/NADAC and assist in preparation for the exam related to this certification.
