Alcohol Treatment Effectiveness for Clients with Co-Occurring Disorders

The course focuses specifically on alcohol abuse and dependence and identifying risk of overdose and withdrawal. The course is to increase knowledge of the medical complications and the mortality and morbbidity as it relates to chronic alcoholism. Particular attention is paid to assessment and treatment for those with severe and persistant mental illness. Various evaluation tools will be introduced as well as medications that are efective to prevent or deminish the symptoms of withdrawal.
