Opioid Crisis: Thinking Outside the Box

April 5, 2016

MPHA is proud to Co-Sponsor a William James College Forum on the opioid crisis this April. “Opioid Crisis: Thinking Outside the Box” is being held on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 from 8:30 am – 12:30 pmat Back Bay Events Center in Boston. The Forum, which will feature key leaders including Secretary Marylou Sudders, Governor Baker, Leonard Campanello, Gloucester’s police chief and more, will present the opioid crisis from policy, academic, and frontline perspectives. Opioid abuse has risen to epidemic proportions in Massachusetts and across the nation. There are evidence-based interventions and new federal and state policies aimed at ameliorating the crisis. Yet the mortality rate remains extraordinarily high. The Forum will focus on innovative harm reduction strategies, approaches to racial and ethnic disparities in access to treatment, and state of the art prevention and early intervention programs.
