Prescription drug misuse is a pressing problem in Rhode Island. While many practitioners will be able to draw from preexisting substance abuse prevention efforts, opioid prevention also requires its own insight and tactics. This two-part webinar series offers practitioners an introduction to the science of opioid addiction, an overview of factors associated with misuse, and an opportunity to examine a variety of prevention strategies.
Learning Objectives
Participants will:
- Identify risk and protective factors and associated strategies/interventions for misuse/abuse of opioid analgesics.
- Explore new stakeholder engagement needed to address community level NMUPD, with a focus on opioid analgesics.
- Understand how primary prevention efforts can support community strategies to reduce potential consequences of opioid misuse such as overdose and heroin abuse.
