Understanding Trauma and Skills to Address Trauma in Treatment

Trauma is defined as exposure to repetitive or severe events such as but not limited to sexual, physical or emotional abuse/neglect, actual or threatened death, exposure to violence, and other threats to physical integrity to self or other.

This training will introduce participants to the diverse etiology and clinical presentations of trauma seen in the community substance use/mental health treatment setting. Emphasis will be on recognizing trauma and trauma related presentations and skills for clients to employ when experiencing anxiety and or panic.
