SUMMARY:Beyond Diversity - Inclusive Practices through an Anti-Racist Approach Training
DESCRIPTION:This Training will be focused on the integration of Anti-Racist practices and decolonization of clinical and community practice to effectively serve diverse populations. We will examine our identities\, privilege\, and power to promote social justice and anti-racist practices in clinical and community work. This includes challenging racist\, and oppressive workplace structures and other organizational settings. We will engage stakeholders from a culturally humble lens in order to center their needs and narratives as an essential part of our practice. We will identify and analyze the impact of microaggression\, biases\, stereotypes\, assumptions\, and unconscious beliefs/values across settings. We will explore how to integrate anti-racist practices into our daily practice and identify strategies to decolonize work climates and cultures in order to equitably service all of our service recipients.\n\nThe training includes the following learning objectives:\n1. Expand your self-awareness and the different intersecting identities that are privileged and/or marginalized.\n2. Understand how to leverage privilege and power to promote social justice.\n3. Engaged in developing inclusive and culturally responsive approaches to navigating clinical and community engagement.\n4. Identify and analyze the impact of microaggression\, biases\, stereotypes\, assumptions and unconscious beliefs/values.\n5. DESCRIPTION:Youth Driven is a traffic safety and leadership program that is led by the Rhode Island Student Assistance Services (RISAS) and supported by the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT)\, Office On Highway Safety. Youth Driven is a year round RI high school program and it begins with an educational summer summit. Every high school that attends the summit creates an action plan for the upcoming school year\, focused around traffic safety. \nOver the course of the 3 day summit\, high school students from across Rhode Island learn components of traffic safety with a focus on substance use prevention strategies and safe decision making skills. Students will have the opportunity to develop their innate leadership skills to keep themselves\, their schools and their communities safe and strong. School and community teams will create action plans to take back to their schools and communities to implement over the course of the school year.
