SUMMARY:Addressing HIV\, HCV\, and Other STDs in RI
DESCRIPTION:This training is designed to provide up-to-date information on diagnosis\, clinical management\, and prevention of HIV\, Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) and other STDs in Rhode Island. The epidemiology and trends in HIV\, HCV and other STDs will be reviewed among at risk populations in Rhode Island. Participants will acquire skills to effectively provide risk reduction counseling related to HIV/HCV/STD infection. \nSpeakers are Brown University faculty and affiliated healthcare providers\, as well as representatives from community organizations serving persons living with HIV. The goal of this program is to equip healthcare officials and counselors with medically accurate information regarding HIV/HCV/STD screening and diagnoses\, update on effective prevention and treatment strategies\, and address management of co-morbid conditions. \nContinuing Education Credits: \nNursing CEUs: This activity has been approved by the Northeast Multi-State Division to award 6.0 contact hours. \nThe Northeast Multi-State Division is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Maine\, New Hampshire\, New York\, Rhode Island\, Vermont Nurses Association are members of the Northeast Multi-State Division of the American Nurses Association. \nSocial Worker CEUs:Determination of 6.0 National Association of Social Workers credits are pending. \nChemical Dependency Professionals CEUs: This training has been approved by the RI Certification Board for 6.0 continuing education credits (The RICB is an IC&RC affiliate). \nMental Health Counselors CEUs: This training has been approved by the RI Mental Health Counselors Association for 6.0 continuing education credits. \nCertified Peer Recovery Specialist CEUs: This training has been approved by the RI Certification Board for 6.0 continuing education credits  (The RICB is an IC & RC affiliate). \nRegister here.
