SUMMARY:Overview of Psychiatric Medications
DESCRIPTION:This training will review the classes of commonly prescribed medications\, such as Antipsychotics\, Antidepressants\, Mood Stabilizers and Stimulants. The participant will be able to identify potential side-effects and drug interactions of psychiatric medications as well as the most common acute and permanent movement disorders associated with Psychotropics. The training will discuss the impact of substance use disorders including cigarette smoking. Discussion includes client education and the importance of client adherence to treatment and the impact on client outcomes. \nContinuing Education Credits: \nNursing CEUs: This activity has been approved by the Northeast Multi-State Division to award 2.0 contact hours. \nThe Northeast Multi-State Division is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Maine\, New Hampshire\, New York\, Rhode Island\, Vermont Nurses Association are members of the Northeast Multi-State Division of the American Nurses Association. \nSocial Worker CEUs: This training is pending approval for 2.0 National Association of Social Workers continuing education credits. \nChemical Dependency Professionals CEUs: This training has been approved by the RI Certification Board for 2.0 continuing education credits (The RICB is an IC&RC affiliate). \nRegister here.
