SUMMARY:"It takes a Village": Collaborative Care of Eating Disorders
DESCRIPTION:This presentation will provide an introduction to the variety of clinical presentations of eating disorders\, related diagnostic updates\, and appropriate assessments\, as illustrated through case presentations. Topics will include emerging science in the eating disorders field\, medical implications of eating disorders\, and evidence-based treatment approaches for adolescents with eating disorders\, focusing on Family Based Treatment (FBT). Throughout the presentation\, the roles in a multidisciplinary team will be emphasized\, including a collaborative care approach. We will conclude with a panel discussion and plenty of time for questions and answers. SUMMARY:The Efficacy of Art Therapy in Various Levels of Treatment
DESCRIPTION:This presentation explores the use of art therapy assessment and targeted interventions\, with a review of case studies across varying diagnosis and levels of treatment within a child and adolescent hospital. Children have been observed to manifest their symptoms in metaphoric modalities such as play\, drawing\, and storytelling. Art therapists have found this useful in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents diagnosed with psychiatric disorders. Presentation material will include an experiential component\, photographs of completed art\, surveys and written feedback from both patients and observing clinicians. By diffusing common misconceptions about art therapy\, an improved understanding of integrating art therapy into a diverse and patient focused treatment approach is encouraged. \nFor more information or to register\, visit the event website.
