DESCRIPTION:The RIPRC will be offering a training in October called Is it Time to Train\, or to Present?. This training is scheduled to be held virtually on October 26th\, 2021 from 10:30-12:30 PM EST. You do not want to miss this one! \nDescription: This session focuses on two tools of training design: SMART learning objectives and the experiential learning cycle. We’ll use these tools to decide if it’s appropriate to help participants gain new skills and knowledge through training\, or if sharing information is the answer to the problem. The session will be interactive using demonstrations\, vignettes and other techniques to explore the difference between training and presenting. Participants should leave with a deeper understanding of good practices in adult learning. \nFacilitator: Beth Gragg has made a name for herself as a facilitator and thought-leader in designing and carrying out programs that allow people to learn (and retain) new skills\, talk about difficult issues and resolve problems. Having grown up in Latin America and worked for more than two decades in the U.S.\, Asia\, Africa and the former Soviet Union\, she is finely tuned to the ways in which culture\, language and status affect how people work together. Beth has degrees in History and Psychology and a Master’s in International Administration\, with a focus on cross-cultural training. Mayra is an immigrant from the Dominican Republic who has worked in the field of social work and counseling for the last 28 years. She has provided individual\, group and family counseling to diverse groups of youth and their families\, including students that have experienced complex trauma. Mayra currently works as a Student Assistance Counselor with RISAS to help promote mental and physical health among young people. \nMayra es una inmigrante de República Dominicana que ha trabajado en el campo del trabajo social y la consejería durante los últimos 28 años.
