VA published the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program (SSG Fox SPGP) on January 26, 2024. The NOFO can be viewed at the Federal Register [federalregister.gov] and at grants.gov [grants.gov]. The NOFO provides information about the program, eligibility, and the award process.
In follow up to the NOFO announcement, a 90-minute recorded NOFO webinar for potential grant applicants is now posted, and registration is open for a subsequent live webinar on March 14th at 1:30pm ET to address outstanding questions for both renewing and new applicants. Potential applicants may visit MentalHealth.VA.gov/ssgfox-grants [mentalhealth.va.gov] and see the Announcements section for details on how to apply for a grant, accessing the NOFO webinar recording and slides, and to register for the live Q/A session.
The SSG Fox SPGP, part of the Commander John Scott Hannon Veterans Mental Health Care Improvement Act, is a community-based grant program that gives financial assistance to eligible entities to provide or coordinate the provision of suicide prevention services for certain Veterans and their families. The SSG Fox SPGP advances VA’s mission of using a public health model that combines community-based prevention efforts with evidence-based clinical strategies for intervention.
The SSG Fox SPGP is preparing to enter its third year. Applications are due on April 26, 2024.
