Trainer Biography:

Kelly Jones, LMHC, LCDP

Kelly Jones is a licensed mental health counselor and chemical dependency professional with over a decade of experience working at the intersection of behavioral health and the criminal justice system. She currently serves as a Dual Diagnosis and Forensic Treatment Specialist at CODAC Behavioral Healthcare, where she provides clinical care, program oversight, and training for individuals involved in the federal probation system, including participation on the U.S. Probation HOPE Court Team. Kelly holds a master’s degree in forensic psychology and has extensive experience in substance use treatment, cognitive-behavioral interventions, and trauma-informed care within correctional and community settings. She is a skilled trainer and facilitator, bringing practical, real-world insight to topics in psychology, criminal justice, and forensic treatment. Welcome Kelly!

Training Description and Objectives:

This training is designed for participants who have a fundamental understanding of the basic concepts and techniques of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Participants will identify common attributes of Justice-Involved Clients and become familiar with criminal thinking errors and cognitive distortions. Practical strategies for the application of CBT through cognitive restructuring, behavioral intervention, and skills training will be reviewed. Participants will explore the impact of CBT on decision-making, risk management, and recidivism.

At the end of this webinar participants should be able to:

  1. Review fundamental CBT concepts.
  2. Become familiar with criminal thinking errors and cognitive distortions.
  3. Learn one technique each for cognitive restructuring, behavioral intervention, and skills training
  4. Identify specific treatment scenarios where CBT would be an appropriate and effective intervention.
