Join us for Fellowship Symposium: Community Mapping: Assets, capacity building, and behavioral health spectrum partnerships in rural and urban New England

August 5 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

You are invited to the Research and Design (RAD) Fellowship Symposium: Community Mapping: Assets, capacity building, and behavioral health spectrum partnerships in rural and urban New England  on August 5, 2025 at 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM EST.

In this event, the five Research and Design Fellows who have completed their 2025 term will share the research and associated tools they have created around the priority subject area. Links to all tools will be available at the end of the session.

Brand new resources you’ll learn about include:

– A resource that would serve as an asset map for non-traditional community leaders working with Hispanic and Latino communities during times of behavioral health need, building on previous work focusing on addressing ACES in Hispanic and Latino communities and increasing Hispanic and Latino representation in workforce development.

– A guide to developing and implementing a digital interactive community asset maps to locate potential opportunities for behavioral health collaboration and partnership across their region. The product lays out approaches for community members using the map to identify assets available to address community needs and how to apply this mapping tool to future initiatives.

– An asset mapping tool and resulting database specifically designed to help rural communities in New England identify and leverage existing resources for substance misuse prevention. This tool will help communities visualize their assets, highlight areas for growth, and foster stronger collaborations between community organizations, focusing on the distinctive needs and limitations of rural areas.

– A step by step process for implementing each component for engaging urban New England youth in primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention work. A how-to guide that includes worksheets for brainstorming ideas, checklists for meeting benchmarks, and resources for local prevention councils.

– A toolkit on strategies for fostering community relations and facilitating positive engagement.  A structured and themed framework, that can empower community members to deepen their civic engagement and bridge the gap between service providers (supply side) and clients (demand side). A focus on identifying local opportunities and challenges related to substance misuse, allowing community members to contribute perspective and solutions that respond to local capacity.

(Please note, AdCare Educational Institute of Maine, Inc. has changed it’s name! We are now ADEPT Educational Institute of Maine, Inc. It’s still us!)
