Trainer Biography: Prachi Kene, PhD.
Prachi is a licensed clinical psychologist who earned her PhD. in clinical psychology from the University of Toledo. In her role as Professor and Program Director in the Department of Counseling, Educational Leadership, and School Psychology at Rhode Island College, Dr. Kene trains future mental health professionals. She has diverse experience working in clinical settings from private practice to psychiatric hospitals and is a strong advocate for accessible mental health care. Welcome Dr. Kene!
Dialectical Behavior Therapy for the Treatment of Substance Use Disorder
This training will address the four domains of dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and how each can be applied to treating individuals with substance use disorders. Topics discussed will equip clinicians in supporting individuals with substance use disorders by addressing emotional regulation challenges, interpersonal struggles, and distress that often contribute to substance use. Participants will be able to address specific client needs related to developing healthier coping strategies, managing emotions, and improving relationships.
Objectives:
At the end of this webinar participants should be able to:
- Recognize the effectiveness of the four DBT domains in treating substance use disorders.
- Learn practical applications of DBT to address various client presentations.
- Equip clinicians with the knowledge and tools needed to help clients effectively build a life of well-being.
