Kelly Jones, LMHC, LCDP
Kelly Jones is a licensed mental health counselor and chemical dependency professional with over a decade of experience working at the intersection of behavioral health and the criminal justice system. She currently serves as a Dual Diagnosis and Forensic Treatment Specialist at CODAC Behavioral Healthcare, where she provides clinical care, program oversight, and training for individuals involved in the federal probation system, including participation on the U.S. Probation HOPE Court Team. Kelly holds a master’s degree in forensic psychology and has extensive experience in substance use treatment, cognitive-behavioral interventions, and trauma-informed care within correctional and community settings. She is a skilled trainer and facilitator, bringing practical, real-world insight to topics in psychology, criminal justice, and forensic treatment.
Training Description & Objectives:
This training will introduce best practices for the treatment of Justice-Involved-Clients who experience co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Participants will discuss the unique needs of this population and identify common barriers to treatment success. The importance of collaborative, integrated care and advocacy will be explored. Participants will learn how to apply principles of Motivational Interviewing and Trauma-Informed Care while working alongside the complex requirements of the criminal justice system.
At the end of this webinar participants should be able to:
- Define the unique clinical needs of Justice-Involved Clients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
- Learn about the potential barriers to care and ways to advocate for appropriate treatment.
- Apply Motivational Interviewing techniques within the treatment setting to increase engagement.
- Explore the connection between trauma-informed care and dual diagnosis treatment.
