$10,000 MHARI Scholarship: Promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Behavioral Healthcare

We are excited to announce our new round of the “Bridging the Divide: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Behavioral Healthcare Scholarship” offered by MHARI.

MHARI will award two (2) graduate students with a $10,000 scholarship aimed at increasing the availability of culturally and linguistically competent mental health providers in Rhode Island. This support is provided to graduate students from diverse backgrounds who are studying in behavioral health programs.

Eligibility information below:

  • United States citizen, DACA Student, National, or hold an immigration visa
  • Enrolled in full-time or part-time Graduate studies at one of the following universities in Rhode Island: Rhode Island College, University of Rhode Island, Providence College, Johnson & Wales University, Roger Williams University, Brown University, or Salve Regina University
  • Pursuing Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, Ph.D. in Psychology, or Psychiatry Degree programs
  • Recommended GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Commitment to practicing in Rhode Island upon graduation and licensure
  • Belong to one or more of the following groups: People from minority racial or ethnic groups (e.g., Black, Indigenous, People of Color), Speakers of English as a Second Language, LGBTQ+ Individuals, People with disabilities

  • Complete the MHARI Scholarship Application or internship stipend application
  • If eligible, applicants can apply to both scholarships
  • Upload all application materials directly to the application platform
