Many Pathways to Recovery

September 12, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

*6 CEUs (SW, CD, MHC)

When most people think about recovery from substance use or co-occurring disorders, they immediately assume what is needed is treatment and a 12 Step program. One of the fundamental principles of recovery-focused care is that there are many pathways to recovery that are unique based on specific needs, strengths, goals, health attitudes, behaviors and expectations for recovery. Pathways to recovery are highly personal, and generally involve a redefinition of identity in the face of crisis or a process of progressive change. The pathway to recovery may include one or more episodes of psychosocial and/or pharmacological treatment. For some, recovery involves neither treatment nor involvement with mutual aid groups.

(This training is appropriate for re-certification for Peer Recovery Specialists.)
