We often hear the expression, “Meet people where they are”, but what does that actually mean? How can we skillfully do this without losing sight of the forward growth and change that will lead them to their best life? The Transtheoretical Model, commonly known as the Stages of Change, describes the states humans find themselves in as they consider, make and maintain changes. MI is a flexible communication tool kit that promotes connection, collaboration and mobilizes inner and outer resources. This highly interactive course for intermediate-level MI practitioners integrates the two, provides practice in identifying the Stage of Change as it shifts and offers a menu of practical MI skills to work effectively within each stage.

Coffee, juice, muffins and pastries will be available starting at 9am. This training is free.

A certificate of completion will be provided to all participants that complete the session. The certificate can be used to apply for CEUs for various disciples such as social work, peer certification and more.

Lisabeth Gutierrez Bennett, NBC-HWC, NCTTP Training Director at CODAC Behavioral Healthcare

As Training Director, Beth administers all CODAC training initiatives and oversees the training teams. She is a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) and has conducted training for a wide variety of medical, behavioral health and social service agencies nationwide.

She holds both National Board Certification in Health and Wellness Coaching and the National Certificate in Tobacco Treatment Practice. Before joining CODAC in 2017, Beth worked with over 1,000 clients and conducted over 8,000 MI interventions as a health coach. She brings that real-world, boots-on-the-ground experience to her work as a trainer and administrator. Beth has lived and worked in Asia and Latin America and speaks fluent Spanish.
