Francis is a certified sexuality educator with the AASECT. He is currently the Manager of Adult Education and Training at Planned Parenthood Of Southern New England. He has designed and taught trainings and workshop series for transgender youth and youth with developmental disabilities, as well as conducting professional development trainings for the adults and professionals to support youth in healthy sexual development. Participants in this two-hour training will learn how the presence of an intellectual and developmental disability informs sexual development, identity, and behavior. Participants will develop skills for effective communication about sexuality with client with developmental disabilities and their families, as well as understand how they can advocate for their client within family and institutional systems.
Objectives:
At the end of this webinar participants should be able to:
- Identify how people with disabilities experience sexual development and expression in ways that are similar and different from non-disabled people.
- Identify 1-3 ways I can support and advocate for the sexual health autonomy of my clients.
