Normalizing the Sharing of Positive Youth Norms

March 3, 2026

2:00 PM – 3:30 PM

Join Dr. Patty Ferssizidis, Associate Director and lead of ADAPT’s Prevention Communications department in a conversation with Dr. H. Wesley Perkins, developer of the social norms approach for preventing risk behavior. Together they will explore: 1) how communities can activate the power of positive norms to prevent youth substance use; and 2) strategies for making it common practice to share and talk about the healthy choices youth are already making.

In this session, you’ll discover:

  • How to infuse the social norms approach into communities beyond a formal intervention or media campaign
  • Why sharing positive youth norms throughout the community creates change
  • How to identify the healthy choices youth are already making
  • Strategies to amplify positive youth norms in ways that make sense for you
