Overview of Psychiatric Medications

This training will review the classes of commonly prescribed medications, such as Antipsychotics, Antidepressants, Mood Stabilizers and Stimulants. The participant will be able to identify potential side-effects and drug interactions of psychiatric medications as well as the most common acute and permanent movement disorders associated with Psychotropics. The training will discuss the impact of substance use disorders including cigarette smoking. Discussion includes client education and the importance of client adherence to treatment and the impact on client outcomes.

Continuing Education Credits:

Nursing CEUs: This activity has been approved by the Northeast Multi-State Division to award 2.0 contact hours.

The Northeast Multi-State Division is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont Nurses Association are members of the Northeast Multi-State Division of the American Nurses Association.

Social Worker CEUs: This training is pending approval for 2.0 National Association of Social Workers continuing education credits.

Chemical Dependency Professionals CEUsThis training has been approved by the RI Certification Board for 2.0 continuing education credits (The RICB is an IC&RC affiliate).
