POINTS: RI Study Findings Presentation
December 13, 2023 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm
The POINTS Study, a CDC-funded initiative led by Jackie White Hughto, Traci Green, and Jody Rich, aims to understand risk factors for stimulant and opioid-involved overdoses and develop locally-tailored intervention strategies to reduce unintentional opioid and stimulant-involved fatal overdoses among people who use stimulants.
Over the past 18 months, the POINTS team surveyed and interviewed people who use and distribute stimulants in the greater Providence, Rhode Island community and the Rhode Island Department of Corrections (RIDOC). The POINTS team also collected drug samples and tested the drug supply. In September, we gathered 7 leaders working across the overdose prevention and response continuum in Rhode Island to participate in a series of working group meetings. Over the course of 4 meetings, the study team and stakeholders identified and evaluated 13 strategies that could be implemented in Rhode Island to prevent stimulant and opioid-involved overdoses.
We are now ready to share our findings, including the proposed intervention strategies with funders, policymakers, and people with direct or indirect ties to overdose prevention and response initiatives in Rhode Island.
We enthusiastically invite you to attend the POINTS: RI Study Findings Presentation on Wednesday, December 13th from 3:00-4:30 PM EST. The presentation will be held virtually via Zoom with the opportunity for up to 20 people to attend in-person as well.
