RI Youth Mental Health Webinar Series: Over the Counter” does not mean “On the Counter W/ Kathy Sullivan AND Suicide Prevention is Everyone’s Business W/ Leigh Reposa

September 9, 2021 @ 6:30 pm

This webinar is part of the RI Youth Mental Health Webinar Series presented by Rhode Island Student Assistance Services (RISAS). During the “Suicide Prevention is Everyone’s Business” portion of the webinar, Leigh A. Reposa will be speaking about the importance of knowing the warning signs of suicide and how to get someone connected with help. Kathy Sullivan will then speak about the importance of securing all medications in the home, whether it is over the counter or prescribed medication. Currently, RI regional coalitions are working to raise awareness about the increase in youth suicide attempts using medication found in the home. Lock bags and timer caps are being offered to members of the communities as part of the awareness campaign.

Kathy Sullivan has been a community prevention coalition leader in RI for over seventeen years. She has also worked in the substance treatment field in the UK. Kathy enjoys rowing, sewing, walking her dog with friends, and mentoring youth.

Leigh A. Reposa, MSW, LICSW has been with the Rhode Island Youth Suicide Prevention Program since the Fall of 2009. As part of her work, Leigh and members of the RI Youth Suicide Prevention Project continue to train and educate adults and youth throughout Rhode Island on the warning signs for suicide, risk, and protective factors, and how to get a young person connected with help. For self-care Leigh enjoys spending time with her husband and their 2 dogs, visiting area beaches, hiking, and running.
