Adolescents and young adults experience many challenges as they move through the rocky road of teen related developmental milestones. Too often the experimentation associated with their new found liberties cause this population to engage in very risky behaviors – with little awareness or knowledge of the short and long term negative effects of these substances on the body and brain.

This three hour training will address the current trends in adolescent substance use. We will discuss nicotine use: cigarettes and vaping; the use of marijuana and other cannabinoid products; and the increasing use of other illicit substances that put teens and young adults at risk for emergency room visits. The training will also include a discussion of evidence based behavioral treatments including CBT, MET, Contingency Management, and Multi-Systemic Therapy.
