SUMHLC Training: Risk Factors and Pregnancy-Associated Deaths

The Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals with support from the Opioid Treatment Program Health Home Initiative

 

Definition:

Pregnancy-Associated Death: A maternal death that is attributable to a condition that is unaffected by the pregnancy and occurs within 1 year of the pregnancy

 

This course will focus on the high-risk issues for Pregnant and Parenting women.   Data shows the leading causes of associated deaths are Homicide, Suicide and Overdose with a trend of Intimate Partner violence   The course will review risks of use of alcohol, opioids, stimulants, and Marijuana during pregnancy.   There will be a focus on universal screening and screening tools will be discussed for the various risk factors.

CEU Information:

Social Work CEUs: This training has been approved by the National Association of Social Workers is for 4.0 continuing education units.

Chemical Dependency Professionals CEUs: This trainings has been approved by the RI Certification Board for 4.0 continuing education units. The RICB is an IC & RC affiliate.

Mental Health Counselors CEUs: This training is pending approval by the RI Mental Health Counselors Association for 4.0 continuing education credits.
