This presentation explores the use of art therapy assessment and target interventions, with a review of case studies across varying diagnosis and levels of treatment within a child adolescent hospital. Children have been observed to manifest their symptoms in metaphoric modalities such as play, drawing, and storytelling. Art therapists have found this useful in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents diagnosed with psychiatric disorders.

Presentation material will include an experiential component, photographs of completed art, surveys, and written feedback from both patients and observing clinicians. By diffusing common misconceptions about art therapy, an improved understanding of integrating art therapy into a diverse and patient-focused treatment approach is encouraged.
