What Every Behavioral Health Clinician Should Know About Social Security Disability Benefits
October 3, 2018 @ 12:30 pm - 4:00 pm
$35A disabling illness can seriously affect a client’s sense of well-being and self-image. When faced with serious health concerns, loss of work, decreased income and limited resources clients who were once hard workers often suffer from anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and/or other mental health problems. Other clients have not worked outside the home or have never been able to sustain full-time employment due to mental illness or a major health problem. Clients unable to work due to a medical and/or mental health disability may qualify for Social Security benefits. This training will examine the Social Security application and appeals process, the difference between SSDI and SSI, benefits available to adults and children, the effect substance abuse has on a client’s case and importance of quality medical records with examples of appropriate documentation. Participants will receive a complimentary book, authored by attorney Donna Nesselbush that outlines 10 tips for behavioral heat clinicians to help truly disabled clients win their Social Security disability cases.
