When More Isn’t Enough: Women and Addiction

October 23, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Free

Over the past forty years, our knowledge of women’s lives has increased dramatically, and we have added significantly to our understanding of the treatment needs of women with addictive disorders. One dominant and reoccurring theme in the lives of women is the interrelationship between substance misuse, mental health issues, and all forms of interpersonal violence (as well as other traumatic experiences).

This webinar offers a comprehensive treatment model that integrates theories of addiction, women’s psychological development, and trauma. There is also discussion on the key issues of self, relationships, sexuality, spirituality, and the trauma-informed therapeutic techniques for dealing with these issues. New resources for providing services are described.
