Candace Rodgers, RI Partnership for Success Coordinator
Candace Rodgers is new to the BHDDH staff and now serves as the Coordinator for the RI Strategic Prevention Framework Partnerships for Success (SPF-PFS) grant initiative. SPF-PFS is a $2,202,611 cooperative agreement issued by the Substance Abuse Mental Health Administration Center for Substance Abuse Prevention designed to help states address substance abuse related problems. RI identified prevention of underage drinking, non-medical use of marijuana and data collection related to prescription drug misuse and abuse as state priorities and will be providing funds to 12 communities to address these priorities.
In her most recent position, Candace served as a data and evaluation consultant for the South Carolina Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services. In this role, she provided technical assistance and training based on the Strategic Prevention Framework to 32 substance use prevention providers, co-wrote South Carolina’s Strategic Prevention Framework Partnerships for Success grant, and worked on various treatment and prevention initiatives. She was also a graduate assistant and then a project director for the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education on a U.S. Department of Education grant that implemented strategies to prevent underage and high-risk drinking at the fourteen public colleges and universities of the Pennsylvania State System. Candace is newly married to her husband, Matt, and they both are avid Penn State football fans. In her spare time, Candace enjoys reading, traveling, and taking her 4 year old German Shorthair Pointer dog, Sophia Loren, for walks.
