The Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities & Hospitals (BHDDH) is committed to assuring access to quality support services for Rhode Islanders with developmental disabilities, mental health and substance abuse issues, and chronic long term medical and psychiatric conditions. BHDDH’s mission includes addressing the stigma attached to these disabilities as well as planning for the development of new services and prevention activities.

In the event of a mental health or substance use crisis, call to connect with a licensed counselor, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Bilingual support and medications to assist with recovery are available.
