Trauma-Sensitive Schools E-Learning Module

“Trauma” has become a buzzword that’s frequently used in casual conversation. We think we know what “trauma” means, but do we? And what about trauma in our schools? Or students and staff who come to school having experienced trauma? Or who experiences trauma in school? There’s a lot here to unpack, but this module can help!

After completing this module you will be able to:

  • Define trauma
  • List the common effects of trauma on children and adults
  • Describe why it is important for schools and school staff to be trauma-sensitive
  • Identify three strategies school staff can use to help create a trauma-sensitive school environment
