A Guide to Identifying and Reporting Child Abuse in the Schools
Rhode Island Board of Regents for Primary and Secondary Education, 2011
The Rhode Island statute requires all suspected child abuse/neglect to be immediately reported. Schools tend to be a place where abuse/neglect can be detected. A sample reporting procedure is included in this document, but the authors recommend that it is tailored to fit the specific needs of the school and community.
In the event of a mental health or substance use crisis, call to connect with a licensed counselor, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Bilingual support and medications to assist with recovery are available.
