State of Tobacco Control 2020

The American Lung Association, 2020

The 18th annual American Lung Association “State of Tobacco Control” report evaluates states and the federal government on actions taken to eliminate the nation’s leading cause of preventable death — tobacco use — and save lives with proven-effective and urgently needed tobacco control laws and policies. The report grades states and the federal government based on whether state and federal laws protect Americans from the enormous toll tobacco use takes on lives and the economy. This year’s “State of Tobacco Control” report poses an urgent question for the country, will 2020 be the year that lawmakers prioritize public health over the tobacco industry?
