Prevention advocates to release results of latest Rhode Island Student Survey
Leaders of Rhode Island’s regional Prevention Coalitions, together with the Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities & Hospitals (BHDDH), the Rhode Island Association of School Principals, and others, will gather at Classical High School on Tuesday, Dec. 3, to release and discuss the results of the latest Rhode Island Student Survey.
The survey, administered every other year, asks middle and high school students about a host of topics, including substance use, bullying, depression, and thoughts of suicide. The goal is to identify areas of need, as well as successful prevention efforts that can be built upon.
The latest survey was taken from February to June by more than 23,000 middle and high school students, with 29 school districts participating.
Speakers on Dec. 3 will include Colleen Judge, Director of Student Assistance Services at Rhode Island Student Assistant Services; Simone Punchak, a senior at Classical High School; Richard Leclerc, Director of BHDDH; Robert Littlefield, Executive Director of the Rhode Island Association of School Principals; and Rebecca Elwell, Regional Director of Strategic Prevention Partnerships, Newport County Region.
